I am a teacher-researcher who investigates global multicultural education, which is a praxis (combining theory and practice) that disrupts systems of oppression like racism and heteronormativity, engages in culturally relevant teaching, connects theory and lived experiences, and maintains a global focus. This global focus entails considering local issues within the context of globalization and colonialism.
My scholarship is in two areas: educational foundations and research methods. This work is interdisciplinary, spanning educational foundations, sociology, and gender and queer studies. I use a range of theoretical frameworks including Critical Race Theory, queer theory, critical feminist theories, and critical race hermeneutics. I am trained in mixed methods research, arts-based and qualitative research, and feminist research methods, as well as in quantitative research. I write primarily with and for teacher educators, research methodologists, and other educational professionals. I also regularly partner with students, community partners, and educators in and outside of the USA. Click the links below for further information. |
In 2021, I received the Jack Miller Award for Research from the Georgia Southern University College of Education.
